Press release
The committee of the Association issued the following statement on 17th May, 2001.
RRA ‘open for business’ again
The Road Records Association (RRA) has lifted the restrictions put in place whilst the foot and mouth disease epidemic was at its height.
Following advice from and discussion with MAFF, the National Farmers Union (NFU) and other cycling organisations, the RRA committee feel that record attempts (almost always on ‘A’ class roads) can go ahead again without risk of spreading the disease.
Organisers, helpers, observers and checkers are being asked to take great care not to enter farmland, driveways, field entrances etc along routes and only to park on hard surfaces eg laybys, not verges, when stopping to feed or direct riders.
