APPOINTMENTS

Official Timekeepers.

5.01 The Committee may appoint competent persons as Official Timekeepers to the Association, and may terminate such appointments at any time. When applying for appointment every applicant shall sign a declaration confirming that the applicant is acquainted with the rules of the Association and will, when acting in any capacity as an Official, take all possible action to ensure compliance with the rules.

Official Observers.

5.02. The Committee may appoint as Official Observers persons whom they consider credible and independent and may terminate such appointments at any time.  An Official Observer may not officiate on any attempts by a rider in whose success he is interested, either commercially or as an organiser.

Every applicant for appointment shall sign a declaration that he is acquainted with the rules of the Association and will, when acting as a follower or in any other capacity as an official, take all possible action to ensure compliance with these rules.

Official Checkers.

5.03. The Records Secretary may arrange for the services of Official Checkers who shall report to him on behalf of the Association their observations of any attempt on record.


Additional advice.

Please note that while co-ordinate definitions may be supplied to precisely describe start/finish points of record attempts, Observers must use more readily understood terms such as road numbers or names in their reports.
Will all Timekeepers, Observers and Checkers please return their paperwork/forms within 14 days of any attempt.

Official Course Measurers.

5.04 The Committee may also appoint competent persons as Official Course Measurers to the Association, and may terminate such appointments at any time.

General notes.

5.05: From time to time the Committee may issue guide lines in the form of a ‘Code of Practice’ for Timekeepers, Observers, (to supplement the definition of the duties given in Sections 9 and 10) and Checkers. These CoPs will also include Course Measurers and Record Aspirants.
